Publication Ethics

The ethical policies of Journal of Human Ecology are based on the principles of the International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (http://publicationethics.org/),  and the observance of the Iranian Ministry of Science Research and Technology the ethical for publications. Authors, reviewers, academic secretaries and editors must adhere to these ethical principles when working with this journal.

Any infringements of professional ethical codes, such as plagiarism, fraudulent use of data, bogus claims of authorship, should be taken very seriously by the editors with zero tolerance. Journal of Human Ecology follows the Code of Conduct (http://publicationethics.org/resources/code-conduct) follows the COPE Flowcharts (http://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts) for Resolving Cases of Suspected Misconduct.

 

Duties and responsibilities of publisher, editors, reviewers, and authors

Responsibilities of the publisher

  1. This publication promises that the decisions made in relation to the submitted articles are based only on professional judgments and are far from personal interests.
  2. This publication is committed to preserving academic and research records.
  3. This publication monitors ethics by editors and secretaries, editorial staff, and reviewers.
  4. This publication will make necessary corrections, explanations, and withdrawals when needed.
  5. This publication will deal with any abuse if it is proven.

 

Responsibilities of the editors

  1. The editors of this journal must keep the submitted articles confidential until they are published.
  2. The editors, and reviewers make the decisions regarding whether or not to publish an article.
  3. The secretaries of this journal must retain the anonymous principle of the reviewers.
  4. The editors of this journal must avoid conflicts of interest.
  5. The editors of this journal are required to observe scientific protection and try to meet the scientific needs of their readers.
  6. The editors of this journal should identify plagiarism, fraud, and possible scams, and provide corrections, explanations, and withdrawals and apologies as needed.
  7. The editors of this journal should focus their attention only on rational content.
  8. The editors of this journal should not disclose the information of articles to people other than authors, responsible authors and judges.
  9. Unpublished articles will not be used for personal purposes by academic professors or other members.

 

Responsibilities of the reviewers:

  1. The reviewers of this publication should cooperate with the managing editor to decide on the publication of the submitted articles
  2. The reviewers invited to this publication should try to keep the submitted articles confidential.
  3. The reviewers should provide feedback to managing editor to decide whether or not to publish an article in a timely manner.
  4. Peer reviewers are required to keep the submitted articles confidential and not to use their information for personal purposes.
  5. The opinions of the reviewers regarding the submitted articles should be technical and specialized.
  6. The reviewers should not review articles in which there is a conflict of interest with one of the authors, companies, or institutions.

 

Responsibilities of the authors: 

  1. Articles must not have been published elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a lecture, review article, or thesis) or be under review by another journal.
  2. The corresponding author must ensure the consent of the other co-authors.

  3. Another responsibility of the authors is to obtain confirmation and permission from the institution to which the submitted article is affiliated.

  4. One of the conditions for submitting an article is that the authors allow it to be edited for better readability.

  5. Authors are expected to briefly mention the financial sponsor for conducting and preparing the research process.

  6. The ethical commitment form must be signed by the authors.

  7. In open access journals, authors retain the ownership of their article but, at the same time, allow the public to download, print, and distribute their article.

  8. All authors of an article must agree on who will be the corresponding author responsible for the subsequent revision processes after submission.

  9. When an author or authors notice a significant error in their work, they must immediately inform the journal’s scientific editor to correct it.

  10. Since plagiarism is considered a serious and unethical offense, all authors must be aware that articles submitted to this journal may be analyzed by plagiarism detection software.

  11. All authors must study the article submission process in this journal.

  12. Examples of violations of publication ethics by authors:

  13. Plagiarism: Plagiarism means the deliberate use of another person's articles or ideas under one’s own name. Even using one sentence from another person or from one’s previous writing without citation is considered plagiarism. All articles submitted to this journal will be reviewed by plagiarism detection software.

  14. Data fabrication and falsification: Fabrication occurs when the researcher has not actually conducted a study but presents data and conclusions. Falsification occurs when a study is conducted, but its data and results are altered.

  15. Simultaneous submission: When an article is submitted to two journals.

  16. Duplicate submission: Occurs when two or more articles have the same hypotheses, data, and results.

  17. Redundant (salami) publication: Refers to splitting one study into multiple articles and submitting them.

  18. Improper attribution of co-authorship: All listed authors in the article must have contributed to its completion.

  19. Reference manipulation: Occurs when many references are listed at the end of an article, while they are not mentioned in the text content.
