Abstract
Today, environmental issues are considered a comprehensive and global challenge. Human environmental behaviors, as one of the most important factors affecting the environment, have been considered by many scholars, researchers, and environmentalists. The aim of the present study was to identify and classify the sociological factors of environmental behaviors in Bojnord. This study was applied in terms of purpose and was conducted with a descriptive-analytical method. In the first step, the effective factors on environmental behaviors were determined using a structured interview among 10 university experts with characteristics such as experience, level of education, field of study, and history of research and authorship in the field of environmental sociology, who were selected using the purposeful sampling method until reaching theoretical saturation, and the output of this step was 8 factors. Then, in the next step, the interpretive structural method with Excel software was used for classification. The results showed that the factors (economic capital, environmental values, lifestyle, consumerism, cultural capital, religiosity, and gender stereotypes) were at the first level and utilitarianism was at the second level, and the first-level factors were in the linked cluster and utilitarianism was in the independent cluster. Therefore, it can be said that the foundation of environmental behaviors is primarily utilitarianism.categorized in the linkage cluster, whereas utilitarianism was placed in the independent cluster.
