Abstract
Semi-private spaces in residential complexes, as intermediary realms between the private domain of housing units and the public space of the complex, play a decisive role in enhancing the residential quality of life for housewives. This study aims to analyze the role of these spaces on the satisfaction of housewives in the Aftab Residential Complex in Tabriz. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of data collection method. The statistical population consists of all housewives residing in the Aftab Complex, from which 200 individuals were selected as the sample through simple random sampling. The main data collection instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire, whose validity was confirmed by experts and whose reliability was measured using Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.87). Data were analyzed using Friedman tests, independent t-tests, and multivariate linear regression in SPSS software. The findings revealed that the physical-functional factor, with a beta coefficient of 0.480, has the greatest impact on women's satisfaction. Balconies and semi-open porches (mean 4.12) and climatic comfort (mean 4.05) exhibited the highest levels of satisfaction, while seating furniture and equipment (mean 2.64) and sense of place attachment (mean 2.42) recorded the lowest levels of satisfaction. Seventy percent of respondents use semi-private spaces during the evening to night period, with conversations with neighbors (44%) and child supervision (36%) identified as the primary motivations for presence in these spaces. Furthermore, a significant difference in satisfaction was observed between women with short and long residence history, but the passage of time alone is not sufficient for the formation of a sense of belonging. Based on the findings, enhancing the satisfaction of housewives in the Aftab Complex requires improving seating furniture and equipment, increasing activity diversity, and strengthening the semantic-identity components.
